Compuscan IT

COMPANY INFORMATION

In the world of financial tech, necessity is truly the mother of innovation. Enter, the dynamic organization that I had the privilege to join back in 2004. Born amidst the bustling financial scene in 1994, our mission was clear from the outset - to establish a credit bureau that primarily focused on unsecured credit agreement information.

A mighty task it was, but with a healthy dose of courage and ambition, we evolved into a formidable player in the sector, locking horns with heavyweights like Transunion and Experian. The journey was studded with milestones and achievements galore, spanning various countries. A stand-out accomplishment was the implementation of a digital biometric financial identification card in Uganda, a testament to our commitment to innovation and financial inclusion.

Like a well-orchestrated plot twist in a thrilling saga, our tenacious spirit and market presence caught the attention of none other than Experian, who eventually acquired us. It was within the vibrant and challenging ecosystem of this organization that I discovered my affinity for product management, my yearning for high-stakes environments, and a keen sense of entrepreneurship. I arrived a software developer, but the journey transformed me into something more - a product delivery enthusiast, deeply passionate and well-rounded in my craft.

EMPLOYMENT BREAKDOWN

In the early days of 2004, my true career started at Compuscan IT. As a Delphi developer, I found myself thrown into the exciting whirlpool of debtors management systems. I was propelled by a fiery ambition and an unwavering drive. Due to circumstances during the acquisition of the debtors management product, I was the only developer willing to transition to Cape Town. This meant plunging into the deep end and learning to swim quickly. Beyond developing the product, my responsibilities broadened to include understanding our competitors, ensuring our product conformed with South Africa's trailblazing credit act of 2007, guiding the sales teams on how to pitch the product effectively, and collaborating with marketing teams to position our product accurately.

2009 marked a significant milestone on my professional path. I was promoted to the roles of Systems Architect, Business Analyst, and Product Manager. It was more than a title upgrade – it was a challenge to venture into unknown territories, to design cutting-edge solutions, and to redefine the horizons of innovation. From this point, I transitioned from development to a laser-focused approach on product management.

In 2012, our hard work and determination bore fruit as we launched our new debtors management system. It was a tough but rewarding endeavor, involving a midstream language switch from Java to C#. This change was vital for us to keep pace with the rapid advances in technology and maintain our leading position in the industry. The successful delivery of this revamped product marked the fruition of three years of relentless dedication, inventive thinking, and unwavering teamwork.

Fast-forward to 2016. After a riveting journey studded with numerous integrations, successful projects, and breakthroughs, I decided it was time for a new challenge in a different industry. This decision led me to bid farewell to Compuscan, an organization that had become a second home.

So here I stand today, reflecting on a journey of immense professional growth and thrilling adventures, from a Delphi developer to a product management pioneer. This chronological tale is, however, far from over. I am geared up for my next grand adventure, ready to embrace new challenges and scribe the upcoming chapters of my narrative at a company called IMQS Software.
